There’s a knowing deep inside you—older than pain, louder than fear. My role is not to teach you, but to walk with you as you remember.

A Little About Me

Hello, my name is Emily — and I am so grateful you are here.

I was born in the Dominican Republic, raised in Europe, and now call California home. Moving between cultures, languages, and worlds shaped how I understand belonging — not as a place to arrive at, but as an inner homecoming. Those early experiences of crossing worlds deeply inform how I listen, how I hold space, and how I honor each person’s story.

My work is rooted in the belief that healing is not a destination, but a return — a returning to the truth of who we are, to the wisdom of the body, and to the sacred connection between the inner child and the higher self.

With a background in counseling psychology, spiritual studies, and nearly two decades in the beauty industry, I’ve come to see healing not as a linear process, but as a spiral — sometimes gentle, sometimes intense, always sacred. I honor both the inner and outer landscapes of transformation, recognizing how identity, culture, ancestry, and lived experience shape our sense of self and safety.

Spiritually and culturally, I draw from my Afro-Caribbean roots, ancestral wisdom, and a consciousness that honors the sacred in all things. Fluent in English and Spanish, I offer therapy in both languages, honoring the importance of expression, story, and meaning-making in one’s native tongue.

I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT 158514). I hold a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), where I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Integral and Transpersonal Psychology. I am also certified in Family Constellation Systems Therapy, a modality that honors ancestral patterns and the unseen dynamics that shape our lives.

I work with adults, children, and families, supporting grief and loss, intergenerational healing, identity and belonging, and the process of learning to feel safe in both the body and in relationships again.

My role is not to fix you — because you are not broken.
It is to walk beside you as you remember your own capacity to heal.

With care,
Emily Fama, M.A., AMFT (158514)
